Answer these questions along the way: 1. How many times did you travel on Karen? Zero - You should never have been on Karen. The rules tell you that a road segment leading off the map is nonexistent. Thus the first crossroad, Karen is only a sideroad, and you should have gone to Thorson, looped around by the tee rule, and then come back to Thorson for the next instruction. 2. While on 45 how many times did you pass the windmill? Once, later in the rallye. Off course followed the ONTO rule here and followed 45. The onto rule does not require you to stay on, etc. a numbered route only a named road. Name does not equate to a number unless specifically told this in the rules. Which you were not. 3. Did you pass the turtle while on Jackson? Yes. Jackson is the second crossroad. It jogs, to your left and to your right while on Stompanato. Thus meeting our definition. 4. Did you pass the light house while on Dennis Dorner Memorial? No. You should never be on Dennis Dorner memorial, you were placed 'onto' Dennis A. Dorner Memorial (you need the A) 5. Did you pass the diner while on Lee? No. You should not have been on Lee. The instruction only told you to make the alternate turns until you CAN turn on Lee Lane. We never told you to actually turn on Lee Lane (sigh). 6. Did you travel on Tom? Yes. Since road, street, st, etc. are interchangeable, lane is the same as street, road, etc. So on course go right on Tom. 7. Did you pass the puppy while on Corcoran? Yes. You did notice that 12 and 13 were out of order did you not? Either way, like all Wheels Rallyes, we get you all back together. 8. Do you see the clock tower at the end of the rallye? No. You should have gone by the Kathy street because the road segment led off the map, and thus was nonexistent. You believe in us and travel down to the Kathy at the bottom of the map. 9. Did you pass the duck while on Jens? No. A sideroad is defined as a named road and the first sideroad you encounter does not have a name, on course went to the next sideroad. Some of the above were difficult some easy but we hope you had a good time getting the basic feeling of road rallying. Come on out and see a real rallye with real roads sometime Don't Peek at the Answers To The master Rallye Until You Have Completed It |

Answers Q1. Did you pass the bar code cat on the your left? Since any road that leads off the map is nonexistent you cannot start at the castle. But instead start at castle at the first intersection and you will pass the bar coded cat. YES. Q2. Did you travel on 3rd street? You counted streets right? The first 3rd street was you could travel on was 2nd, since it was the third (3rd) street you encountered. NO. Q3. Did you pass the magician and rabbit while on Kathy Lane? You cannot use the first crossroad since it is not a road with the segment to the left leading off a map this road is only a sideroad. NO. Q4. Did you pass the church while on Sharon? You should have followed Karen when it went left since you were ONTO it by the ONTO. On course went on Sharon and saw the church. YES Q5. Did you pass the moose while on Jim? Since you are NOT onto Lee by the 'ONTO' rule, because the Onto does not immediately follow the action word (Left), since there is an 'at crossroad' which interrupts the 'immediately'. YES. Q6. Did you pass the guy walking with the gas can while on Jens? You did turn on Dennis and not Dennis Dorner when required to turn on Dennis in instruction 11. While street=road, etc. Dorner must be included in the name for that street. YES. Q7. Did you end the rallye at a piece of pie? Not really. When you are placed ONTO Nancy Lane, the rest of the instruction commands you to turn Left at the second opportunity, but since you are on an ONTO you must wait to get off of it by executing 'the next instruction', in this case you would have been doing the same instruction onto Lee. Q8. Did you travel on Christopher? You should have. The turn ONTO sideroad for instruction 8 requires you to continue to turn on the road designated by the ONTO by the name or description you were put on, in this case a sideroad, so you should have continued onto the sideroad, Christopher. YES Q9. While on Kathy did you pass the owl? When you were doing the alternate right/Left turns in the following manner, right on Dennis, Left on Susan then Right on Kathy since, the road before that is not named, and therefore not an opportunity. YES |
