Wheels Rallye Team

Having More Fun Than Anyone

2012 Winter Rallye Season

Here is an unusual opportunity to get in the car and have some rallye fun during the winter season. Very low-pressure events that last 2 hours each. Every Winter rallye uses the SAME general instructions...so you can really get familiar with the terms and procedures.

Wheels Rallye Team starts the 2012 Season in January, 2012 and will present at least three and possibly 4 rallyes from January through March. One may be a Sunday event. No checkpoints, no getting out of your car, just basic rallying, with each rallye using the same general instructions and  each event covering basic rallying concepts. A great way to learn rallying from the ground up, and better yet, to improve your rallye finishes in the future.

Each rallye costs only $5, and paper certificates will be awarded. Low cost fun for the automotive enthusiast.

We should have our tentative schedule up and running here on the web site in a few weeks. So drop back and find out all the information.

All rallyes will START and END at Barnaby’s in Schaumburg (Golf Road west of Roselle Road).

Text Box: General Instructions for Winter Rallyes

Route Instructions

Each route instruction is indicated by a number. Perform the route instructions in consecutive ascending numerical order, beginning with route instruction 1, at the first chance to do so by physical evidence seen from the course unless instructed otherwise. Execute each route instruction completely before going on to the next numbered route instruction. You will never be required to make a U-Turn to execute a route instruction. You may never look directly behind you to see physical evidence. If you have no route instruction to perform continue on the obvious route which is Left at Tee, straight as possible.

Signs

    (1)   Anything enclosed in quotation marks, “example”, refers to actual numbers, letters and/or words on a physical sign. (2) Artwork is nonexistent on a sign. Artwork is anything other than numbers, letters, road depictions and arrows. (3) Spelling must be exact. (4) Punctuation is nonexistent on signs. (5) There is no differentiation called for between upper and lower case type, types of script or fonts. (6) Signs may be quoted in full or in part. (7) The quoted portion should be read left to right, top to bottom, with no intervening words or numbers skipped. (8 )Signs may be to either side of you or in front of you; they may be placed parallel to the road, but none will be used to necessitate your looking backwards to read. (9) Separate signs on or attached to the same structure are the same sign. (10) Spacing is irrelevant on signs. (11) Signs may be referred to in whole or in part.

The Route

The route travels over open public roads. Driveways and parking lost are nonexistent with the exception of the start and endpoint. Road segments indicated by “private”, “dead end”, “Road closed”  and/or “no outlet” are nonexistent. Obvious private property is not to be considered as existent. Alleys are nonexistent. A divided road is one road.

The following prefixes to road names, North, South, East, West, Old, New, N, S, E and W, are irrelevant. Street = avenue = road = boulevard = st = ave = lane, etc.”

If more than one kind of instruction can be performed at the same place always perform the type of highest precedence. The precedence, listed from highest to lowest is: Rallymasters word, Addenda, General instructions minus the obvious route, route instructions, obvious route.
